Enclosed: Comments regarding Proposed Plan and RI/FS Document for burning on Fort Ord

Dear Ms. Youngblood:

Please find enclosed the letters of 449 people opposing the plan of burning on the ranges at Fort Ord. These letters clearly show community opposition to the proposed plan of burning.

They must be included in the comments regarding the proposed plan.

In the National Contingency Plan there are nine criteria that must be considered when evaluating a course of action. The comments enclosed demonstrate that in the action of burning there are unacceptable safety risks, which violate the criteria for overall protection of human health and the environment, criteria #1. Furthermore the cards also illustrate the Proposed Plan’s noncompliance with criteria #9, which states that there must be community acceptance of the action taken.

Please include these comments to the Administrative Record of the Proposed Plan and RI/FS document.

Sincerely,

Vienna Merritt Moore
