Monterey City
Sept 6, 2001
Regarding: General Plan
Update
We respectfully urge you
to -
-
Protect significantly more native
Forests within the City of Monterey,
-
Protect more Wildlife Corridors,
-
Recognize and protect Environmental
Values - not merely scenic values, and call them environmental phenomena
or gifts, do not call them natural resources. Resources are things to be
used up, Environmental phenomena are important to be protected for their
intrinsic value - not for their economic value.
-
Create more Parks,
-
Limit building approvals to
those which do not use additional water until our Water Emergency
is lifted,
-
Limit building approvals to
those which do not use additional Electric supplies until that Emergency
is lifted
-
Limit building approvals to
those which do not cause additional Traffic until Gridlock has disappeared,
-
Significantly Reduce Traffic
Congestion, try Traffic Calming,
-
Significantly reduce existing
Light Pollution and Sky Glare,
-
Significantly reduce existing
Noise Pollution (e.g. Leaf Blowers and Chainsaws)
-
Limit new building to Low-income
Housing until that problem is solved.
Thank you sincerely,
David Dilworth, Acting Secretary
