{"id":570,"date":"2011-03-10T14:06:34","date_gmt":"2011-03-10T21:06:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/1hope.org\/hopeblog\/?p=570"},"modified":"2011-03-11T08:12:14","modified_gmt":"2011-03-11T15:12:14","slug":"smartmeter-poem-the-devil-by-ellen-cecil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/1hope.org\/hopeblog\/smartmeter-poem-the-devil-by-ellen-cecil\/","title":{"rendered":"Smartmeter Poem: &#8220;The Devil&#8221; by Ellen Cecil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><center><em>The Devil<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Smart Meter Satire (c) Copyright 2011 Ellen Cecil<br \/>\nAdapted from an original Poem by Anonymous<\/center><\/p>\n<p><strong>Men don\u2019t believe in a devil now as their fathers used to do.<br \/>\nYet they\u2019ve opened the door to Smart Meter Hell to let \u201cHis Majesty\u201d through.<\/p>\n<p>There isn\u2019t a print of his cloven hoof or a poison-dipped dart from his bow<br \/>\nTo be found in the grave or anywhere for the PUC\u2019s voted it so.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nBut who is mixing the microwave brew that kills both heart and brain,<br \/>\nAnd who is invading Pacific Grove to leave thousands sick and in pain?<\/p>\n<p>Who blasts the Grove of the Butterfly with the fiery pulses of Hell?<br \/>\nIf the devil isn\u2019t or never was\u2014won\u2019t somebody please rise and tell?<\/p>\n<p>Who dogs the steps of our trusting souls with apocalyptic heat?<br \/>\nWho forces appliances to spy on us and the 4th Amendment\u2019s defeat?<\/p>\n<p>Could it be the devil\u2019s a \u201cTechno-God\u201d and he\u2019s left us with more than one clue?<br \/>\nAnd who is doing the infernal work El Diabolo\u2019s supposed to do?<\/p>\n<p>The devil doesn\u2019t care if our Pacemakers fail or a headache or cancer won\u2019t go.<br \/>\nPlease show us the pit where fraud and greed ooze\u2014we really want to know!<\/p>\n<p>Hinkley, San Bruno, Smart Meters and more\u2014surely the devil\u2019s no con.<br \/>\nYet all freedom lovers deserve the truth: Who carries his business on?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Devil Smart Meter Satire (c) Copyright 2011 Ellen Cecil Adapted from an original Poem by Anonymous Men don\u2019t believe in a devil now as their fathers used to do.
