That&#8217;s one opinion, but it is clearly not the longest lasting harm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>While burning fossil fuels certainly causes major harms including creating<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/3-Nitrobenzanthrone\"> the most deadly cancer causing compound<\/a> (from diesel engines), after a few tens of thousands of years even the most potent parts of that pollution will have transformed into far less harmful chemicals. And if humans are still around they&#8217;ll likely use <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Electric_vehicle\">electric vehicles<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Some poets say love is forever. It may feel that way. However, genuine forever-ness is the loss of an endangered species; not unlike the permanent loss we realize when one of our parents dies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 422px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.inspiringlandscapes.com\/unisonmompup.htm\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" \" title=\"Sea Otters: Teetering on the Brink of Extinction\" alt=\"Sea Otters: Teetering on the Brink of Extinction\" src=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150627074433\/http:\/\/www.inspiringlandscapes.com\/unisonmompup.jpg\" width=\"412\" height=\"207\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Sea Otters: Teetering on the Brink of Extinction<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>We killed the last <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Passenger_pigeon\">passenger pigeon<\/a> just a few years ago &#8211; that is wholly un-<!--more-->reversible. They are never coming back. Yet in the lifetimes of our grandparents they were probably the most animal species in the 1800s. One flock was a mile wide and some 300 miles long ! It took 14 hours to fly past.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Locally, facing true forever-ness are our neighbors the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iucnredlist.org\/details\/7750\/0\">Sea Otters<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20130928224305\/http:\/\/www.iucnredlist.org\/details\/106003821\/0\">Condors,<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/daviddilworth.com\/env\/california-red-legged-frog-rana-aurora-draytonii-are-long-time-peninsula-residents\/\">California Red-Legged Frogs (sometimes mistakenly called Carmel Valley red-necked frogs)<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/1hope.org\/steelhd.htm\">Steelhead<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Extinction, is the most devastating damage Americans have wrought, and our local politicians are hell bent on causing even more.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Extinction is truly Forever<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(c) Copyright 2005 David Dilworth Some claim that burning fossil fuels is the most devastating damage humans have done to our earth.
