However, naturally occurring fluoride is in our water at about 0.3 (ppm?) and Cal-Am does not remove that. However, when Funding becomes available (we&#8217;re #27 and 17 was just funded) Cal-Am will start adding fluoride to our Peninsula Drinking Water!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><b>(Originally written in 2001, updated in 2003) Monterey County&#8217;s so-called &#8220;Health Department&#8221; is now taking steps to put a deadly Poison, fluoride, in our Peninsula&#8217;s drinking water supply as directed by a recent and extremely controversial state law that was passed with little public knowledge\u00a0 or debate.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>HOPE wants you to be aware of the best science on Water Fluoridation and have included two articles. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>They illustrate six <strong>Vital Health<\/strong> issues &#8212;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Fluoride is Not Safe ! There is no dispute that &#8212;<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fluoride is Not a Nutrient or a Vitamin.<\/strong><b><b><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/b><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Water Fluoridation <i><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">damages teeth<\/span><\/i> (mottling) in some 30% of children.<\/strong><b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Drinking Fluoridated water, <i><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">at its very best,<\/span><\/i> has only a <i><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">tiny<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">statistical<\/span><\/i> benefit on tooth decay, but likely no actual physical benefit.<b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Toothbrushing<\/strong> with Fluoride paste is <strong>Very Different<\/strong> than <strong>Drinking<\/strong> <strong>fluoridated water<\/strong>.<b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nofluoride.com\/jada.cfm \">The Journal of the American Dental Association admitted that <em><strong>&#8220;The optimum level of fluoride intake has never been determined scientifically and has been used only in general terms.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20080318232001\/http:\/\/www.rachel.org:80\/bulletin\/bulletin.cfm?Issue_ID=2001\"><b>The first article linked above is an overview of the science by Rachel&#8217;s Environment and Health Weekly.<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Strong Opposition from Fluoride Experts<\/strong><br \/>\nThe second article is written by a <strong>US-Environmental Protection Agency employees union (scientists, attorneys and engineers) explaining their strong opposition to drinking water fluoridation<\/strong>, and some critical ethical and public health issues related to the way the <a href=\"FluorEPA.DOC\"><b><i>US-EPA twisted the science<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i> <\/i>and outrageously abused their authority to allow fluoridation of drinking water. <\/b><a href=\"FluorEPA.DOC\"><b>(Click here for EPA article)<\/b><\/a><br \/>\n<b><\/b><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">But let&#8217;s start with the question &#8212;<\/h3>\n<p>Q. <strong>What&#8217;s the difference between the fluoride put in drinking water, in toothpaste and rat poison?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>A. Absolutely nothing ! &#8212; except the intent.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Rat poison and Drinking Water fluoride are exactly identical chemical compounds !<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Rat poison fluoride is highly toxic, <b><i>is intended and used to kill mammals<\/i><\/b> and it does so easily.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Fluoride put in drinking water and toothpaste is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">chemically identical to rat poison<\/span><\/i><\/b>, but is claimed to &#8220;improve&#8221; tooth health.<\/p>\n<p><b>Since 1997 all fluoridated toothpaste is now required to carry a warning, (go take at a look at the tube in your bathroom) which states in part to &#8220;K<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">eep Out of Reach of Children,<\/span>&#8221; <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>and if you accidentally swallow more than needed for brushing teeth &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Contact the Poison Control Center<\/span>&#8221; !!!<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Q. How many other <b>foods, nutrients or vitamins do you eat with <\/b>a warning like that?<\/p>\n<p>A. None, of course.<\/p>\n<p><b>Would you eat a hamburger or a milkshake with a warning to &#8220;Contact the Poison Control Center&#8221; if you ate too much?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Water fluoridation is typically performed in the U.S. by adding <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jtbaker.com\/msds\/englishhtml\/S3722.htm\"><b>sodium fluoride<\/b><\/a>, a waste product of aluminum production, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lciltd.com\/msds\/msdsssf.htm\"><b>sodium silicoflouride<\/b><\/a><b> <\/b>or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lciltd.com\/msds%5Cmsdshfs.htm\"><b>hydrofluosilicic acid<\/b><\/a><b> <\/b>to drinking water supplies (at 1 ppm). All three compounds are indisputably poisonous in small amounts.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In concentrations exceeding 1.5 ppm Sodium Fluoride &#8220;<b>may cause mottling of tooth enamel.<\/b>&#8221; Van Nostrands Scientific Encyclopedia, 1976<\/p>\n<p><b>Fluorine is the most reactive element and one of the strongest oxidizing agents known.<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Prior to 1945 f<strong>luoride was not added to water anywhere in the world<\/strong>. Some areas, notably China, have significant amounts of fluoride naturally occurring in drinking water.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Switzerland<\/span>, after fluoridating its water for 40 years, just passed a law prohibiting Water fluoridation because it has shown no benefit. <\/b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Most Thoughtful European countries <b>(e.g. Sweden, Holland, Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, Denmark) <\/b>forbid adding fluoride to drinking water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110109142909\/http:\/\/www.alaskawellness.com\/archives\/flouride-pt1.htm\"><b>Separately from fluoride&#8217;s broad array of known cumulative poisonous effects on humans (including <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">arthritis, mutations and <i>death<\/i>),<\/span><\/b><\/a> water companies may be reluctant to add fluoridation because of the extreme difficulty in controlling the amount of it in each gallon of water. Too little (less than 1 ppm) and there is no claimed effect upon teeth; only slightly more (1.0 to 1.5ppm) and fluoride is known to damage teeth.<\/p>\n<p><b>MSDS stands for Material Safety Data Sheet. <\/b>Every product for sale or for use in business in United States, which has dangerous properties (such as poisonous, toxic or deadly effects) <strong>must have an MSDS sheet<\/strong>. Products which do not have dangerous properties, essentially <strong>all foods<\/strong>, do not need an MSDS sheet.<\/p>\n<p><b><i><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">All of the fluoride products put in drinking water are well-established, Hazardous Waste Products. Why did the 2002 Monterey County Grand Jury recommend fluoridating our water ?<\/p>\n<p>A. Is important to understand that <em><strong>the County Grand Jury willfully refused to look at the science about the dangers on fluoridation<\/strong><\/em> or listen to any toxicity experts. <b><i>The Grand Jury only looked at one side of the issue, the pro-fluoridation side, before making their decision!<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">What do fluoridation activists want?<\/h3>\n<p>Although D<strong>ebra Diaz of the &#8220;Monterey County Fluoridation Task Force<\/strong>&#8221; seems well intentioned (she seems to genuinely care about protecting the teeth of children from poor families), her advocacy <strong>contradicts all the known science.<\/strong> She claimed &#8220;<i>Fluoridation is the single most cost-effective way to fight dental disease, and its safe<\/i>&#8221; and that fluoridation could benefit older people who suffer from root decay.<\/p>\n<p>First, as the above articles explain, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Fluoridation simply Does NOT Work<\/span>.
